BLACKPINK new song schedule has sparked debate as fans await the group’s first comeback in nearly three years. The vague announcement from Yang Hyun-suk frustrated many, especially with no clear timing before the world tour. Fans are also criticizing the lack of preparation and expressing concern about leadership within the agency.
BLACKPINK comeback draws attention with hints about new song and schedule
BLACKPINK, one of the most prominent K-pop girl groups, is finally gearing up to release a new song. Yang Hyun-suk, the executive producer of YG Entertainment, revealed this news in a video interview posted on the company’s official blog on the 26th. The group’s last release was their second full-length album, Born Pink, which came out on September 16, 2022. Since then, JENNIE, ROSÉ, LISA, and JISOO have each focused on their solo careers.
Hints of a July Comeback Raise Fans’ Expectations
With BLACKPINK scheduled to kick off their new world tour, BLACKPINK World Tour in Goyang, on July 5–6 at Goyang Stadium, many fans believe the new song will likely be released before or during that time. If this happens as expected, it will mark the group’s first comeback in nearly two years and nine months. Naturally, the news has sparked excitement and speculation among fans eager for fresh music from the group.
Fans express frustration over vague update on BLACKPINK new song and schedule
On the Korean online forum theqoo, many fans expressed disappointment over the brevity of Yang Hyun-suk’s announcement. In an eight-minute video titled YG Plan, only about ten seconds were devoted to BLACKPINK’s comeback. Considering that fans have waited nearly three years, many feel the announcement lacked sincerity and effort. They argue that a more detailed update would have shown greater respect for the group’s loyal supporters.
Unclear schedule sparks concern about timing of BLACKPINK new song promotion
Some fans also raised concerns about the unclear release schedule. Typically, artists promote a new album for around four weeks before starting a tour. However, with only six weeks left until the world tour begins, BLACKPINK’s comeback schedule remains unconfirmed. If the song is released just days before the tour, there won’t be enough time for proper promotions. This could seriously disrupt the usual promotional cycle, which is crucial to a successful comeback.
Lack of preparation for BLACKPINK comeback draws sharp criticism from fans
Many fans are upset that BLACKPINK has gone so long without a new release. They wonder why YG Entertainment failed to secure songs or plan in advance during the long break. Normally, the A&R team should take the lead in defining the group’s concept, choosing songs, and gathering feedback. However, fans say there’s no visible sign of that effort, which leaves them both confused and frustrated. Some even speculate that musical differences between Yang Hyun-suk and the members may have delayed the release.
Yang Hyun-suk faces backlash as BLACKPINK fans question leadership and strategy
Criticism toward Yang Hyun-suk himself has also resurfaced. He resigned from all roles at YG in June 2019 after multiple controversies, including the Burning Sun scandal and issues involving YG artists. Though he was acquitted in July 2023, he previously stood trial for allegedly covering up a drug investigation involving B.I. For these reasons, some BLACKPINK fans remain uncomfortable with his involvement in the group’s activities. On top of that, many believe YG has relied too heavily on the members’ individual fame rather than investing in quality group projects, which deepens their frustration.

We need BLACKPINK OT4 interviews! It has been ages since we got high quality BLACKPINK interviews and music show appearances. The girls went on tour immediately last year after the album dropped, we need something different and fun this time.
The girls gave us so much insight about their music last year which provided us with the depth BLACKPINK lacked.
